Report: Police Focus On Suspect – Treating Michael Jackson Case As Homicide
TMZ is making a bold claim that Los Angeles police have already concluded that Michael Jackson is a homicide victim, and the pop icon’s cardiologist could be charged in the case. The celebrity Web site, citing what it claims are “multiple” law enforcement sources, says L.A. cops have “plenty of powerful evidence” that Dr. Conrad Murray is now the main focus of the probe. And that Dr. Murray, who was with Jackson when he died, administered a fatal dose of the powerful anesthetic Propofol, which will be listed as the primary cause of death. Bials of Propofol were found in Jackson’s home after he died, along with a drip stand and an oxygen tank, which were both possibly used to administer the drug. It should be cautioned though that the official autopsy results aren’t due out until at least next week.
TMZ adds that vials of Propofol were found inside Jackson’s rented mansion, and that police have already talked to the L.A. district attorney’s office about possible homicide charges.
Neither the Los Angeles Police Department nor Dr. Murray has commented on the TMZ report.
Murray isn’t the only doctor under scrutiny. A coroner’s official served a second subpoena to collect additional medical records, on the office of Dr. Arnold Klein, a Beverly Hills dermatologist who treated Jackson for years and was a close friend. Coroner Assistant Chief Ed Winter visited Dr. Arnold Klein’s Beverly Hills office after the physician failed to turn over records he had promised to provide to authorities earlier this month, said Craig Harvey, operations chief for the coroner’s office. Harvey said Winter obtained an agreement that the doctor would provide the outstanding medical records.
The Los Angeles Times also reported that the second autopsy ordered by Jackson’s family had been completed. There was no word on the findings.
