Actor Karl Malden passes away at age 97

Academy Award winningactor actor Karl Malden, died on Wednesday at age 97, his agent said. Malden had been in failing health in recent years and died in his sleep at about 2:30 a.m. (0930 GMT) in his Los Angeles area home, the agent, Budd Moss, said

In a career that spanned over seven decades, he starred in many important films like “A Streetcar Named Desire” and “On the Waterfront” and the TV series “The Streets of San Francisco,” with Michael Douglas.

Malden also appeared as a spokesman in a trench coat, delivering the line “Don’t leave home without it!” in a series of commercials for American Express Travelers Cheques in the 1970s and 1980s.
