Elizabeth Hasselbeck accused of stealing new book
When Elizabeth Hasselbeck, co-star of ‘The View’ recently published a book, one of her readers had seen it before.
Susan Hassett, a self-published author, has just filed a lawsuit claiming she sent the 32-year old ABC star a copy of her own book on Celiac disease in 2008, and that most of her work got strangely ‘recycled’ in Liz’s own guide which was published last month.
Elizabeth first encountered the illness – in which your intestines attack you if you dare to eat gluten – while taping ‘Survivor: Australia’ in 2001. The trouble was traced to this unknown disease, and she published her ‘G-Free Diet’ guide on surviving the fall-out and still eating well to widespread acclaim…Except from Ms. Hassett, who filed her lawsuit in Boston today.
Both Elizabeth’s people and ABC staff are making no comment. The suit is now pending and we’ll keep you advised.

Just FYI – Celiac is not an “unknown disease”, it’s an autoimmune disorder like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis & while it was considered rare here until recently, it’s never actually *been* rare, just rarely diagnosed. The latest statistics show that 1 out of every 133 people have it, even if they don’t know they do & some studies are showing it may be 1 out of every 99 people who have it – & I’m one of those people. Mind you, despite our Celiac Sisterhood, I still loathe Elizabeth Hasselbeck & it wouldn’t surprise me at all that she lifted much of her book.
Pretty much you have boundries and rules for what to do to find out what is wrong with you, foods you can and can not eat., how to substitute this or that. They keep rewriting the same stuff, except for the individual suffering, personal story behind the discovery of the problem.
