Julianne Hough to be Footloose in first movie role
Paramount’s remake of the 1984 Kevin Bacon classic, “Footloose,” has garnered a lot of excitement and has seen many young stars pursuing roles. After Zac Efron dropped out, reportedly because he feared being typecast, Chace Crawford 23, jumped in to play Ren McCormack, the rebellious dancing high schooler.
And as for the female lead candidates included Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Bynes and Dancing With the Stars pro Julianne Hough, all of whom had auditioned in past weeks for the part of Ariel Moore, the independent daughter of a preacher man, originated in the 1984 classic by Lori Singer. Even Miley Cyrus was reportedly considered for the role but it apparently didn’t work out.
Now Variety reports that Julianne Hough, will indeed be the lucky leading lady to dance alongside Chace, provided that the scheduling can be worked out. Hough is still under contract to appear in future seasons of DWTS, but has said she won’t return for the ninth season of the show. She will be making her movie debut with Footloose, that is described as a more mature and modern version of the 1984 classic, providing contractual obligations don’t get in her way.
