Katherine Heigl confirmed for next Grey’s

Seemingly convinced that we would be unable to function were we not reassured, ABC has confirmed that Gray’s Anatomy alumnus and reputed diva, Katherine Heigl  will return to the show.

Sources at the network have now confirmed Izzie will once more be a part of the cast, as Heigl’s option was picked up late Thursday. Her pal, T.R. Knight, however, has been granted parole and will not return.

From a challenging start as co-star in the lowest-grossing movie of all time, the 2006 disaster, ‘Zyzzyx Road,’ with Tom Sizemore. the 30-year old Washington-state native landed her ‘Grey’s role in 2005, and it scored her an Emmy just two short years later.

But the off-screen problems behind her potential disposal became public last Summer, when Kate withdrew her name from that year’s awards, claiming the scripts for her character were ‘not up to her standards.’

The role of Izzie Stevens has propelled her to stardom, and placed Kate on the ‘Forbes 100′ list as the highest-paid actress now on TV – $13-million a year. When the new season bows on September 24, Izzie will be there, and we’ll watch her adventures unfold from there.
