Kyra Sedgwick speaks out on Madoff loss

Unlike most of their peers, actress Kyra Sedgwick and her hubby, the svelte Kevin Bacon, have been conspicuously absent from all gossip rags. But that changed when they, like countless others, became snared in the financial falsehoods of the vile Bernie Madoff.
“I always thought, `We’re so boring. We should be in the tabloids more. C’mon honey, let’s have a scandal,’” the 43-year-old actress told the HuffPo. “Well, it wasn’t the truth that we were destroyed, but when you say `no comment,’ that’s, of course, where they go, because it grabs headlines and people will be more interested.”
Kyra, 43, who endures an exhausting commute between their home in New York and Santa Clarita, CA where the TNT drama is filmed, takes an admirable view of their overall loss. “It’s been really unpleasant and makes you feel very vulnerable. But we did not lose everything,” she says. “We lost hard-earned money, but a lot of people lost more. And we still have lots of things for which to be grateful, and we never forget that.”
Among those would be the NYC-native’s appearance on Hollywood Boulevard last Monday, where she became the 2,384th celebrity to be granted a star, in appreciation of a varied career that saw her debut in the far-off, monochrome gloom of 1964.
But despite such awards, Kyra’s own stars are quite clearly her kids, “Every year I think it’s going to be easier, and it’s actually harder,” she said of her tiring commute. “You miss things. And, as a mother, that’s hard.”
But Kyra and her children, Travis, 19, and sister, Sosie, 17, are reportedly pumped about the upcoming remake of 1984′s ‘Footloose,’ which was Kevin’s big break. Chace Crawford [Gossip Girl] will reprise Kevin’s role, and Kyra and Sosie are quite clearly thrilled. “Pretty big shoes to fill,” Kyra opines. “But, actually, I think it’s great. I think he’s adorable.”
The lady’s got taste – 3.4-million people each week just couldn’t agree more.
