Kelly Rutherford welcomes daughter: Husband last to know

‘Gossip Girl’ star Kelly Rutherford was engaged in an emotional sequel on Monday when she delivered her second child. And the baby’s dad, Daniel Gersch is rather upset he missed out.

The pair now live apart after Kelly, 41, filed for divorce in December, but according to People they had an agreement that Kelly would text or call the 34-year old internet entrepreneur when the baby was coming, so he could attend. No message was sent, Dan missed the whole gig, and now he’s seriously peeved at Miss K.

“Media reports claiming that I neglected to attend my daughter’s birth are total lies and fabrication,” says his statement. “I was never informed about the birth, nor was I invited to attend. I found out about it through Internet reports like everyone else,” it goes on. “l am overjoyed that our baby was born healthy, and I seek only to co-parent both our children responsibly and with love.” he finally concludes.

Kelly’s people, however, are making it clear the Kelly was just following doctor’s advice, “The doctors advised that no-one be in the birthing room; Daniel was notified when Helena was born, and was immediately invited to come see her.” says Jill Fritzo, Kelly’s PR guru.
