Megan Fox and Rob Pattinson just friends?

The news is emerging that Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green are now a historical item — it’s over. A source close to the starlet confirms they parted ways, but ‘remain very fond of each other.’ So who’s next?

It seems Megan’s next beau could be Robert Pattinson. She and Rob were known to be close, but a well informed source who worked close to Meg on her upcoming vampire-cheerleader movie, ‘Jennifer’s Body’ due out in September, says that Megan was dishing on her and Rob all through the filming in British Columbia, and told her helpers the two of them were ‘already hooked up.’

And this was at the same time that she ditched her engagement with Brian.

“Megan was totally into Rob and thought he was really cute,” a well-placed snitch told reporters at E. “But nothing ever went further than one night together. He totally blew her off.” The source swore up and down that nothing else happened, and Megan herself even dished in her last ‘Elle’ discussion that 23-year old Rob was ‘too young and pretty’ to even cause her concern.

And in the realms of clandestine romance, such double denial is better than gold.

Megan’s reps are keen to insist that she and Rob are just casual friends. They met, we’re assured, at a GQ soirée, and have encountered each other a few other times – but with no intent or unspoken agenda…Or so we’re told.

Since the Rob rumors surfaced, Megan’s also been spied sharing a latte with Shia LaBeouf, whom she’s on record as calling, ‘my favorite person in the entire world!’ So, if Rob’s really over, could he be her next course?
