Shia LaBeouf steps up for Wall StreetIn news that should mean his Yale plans are on hold, Transformers star, Shia LaBeouf has now signed to start a new job on Wall Street.

After almost six weeks of talks, the 23-year old actor has accepted a role in ‘Wall Street II – Money Never Sleeps,’ the much anticipated sequel to Oliver Stone’s 1987 original, now widely regarded as an upcoming classic. Javier Bardem is on board as a villain, and Michael Douglas will resurrect Gordon Gecko, the role that scored him an Oscar in the franchise’s first outing.

The premise of the sequel is more involved than part one; Watching the global economy flirt with disaster, a young Wall Street trader (Shia) joins forces with disgraced Wall Street deity, Gordon Gekko, to warn the world of the upcoming doom, and to discover who killed the young trader’s mentor.

Shia is due to begin work on the new Oliver Stone-helmed drama in August, once he wraps a promotional tour for his new film, “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” But the LA native admits he’s not quite in shape for the role, “I don’t know what a credit derivative is,” he admitted to reporters. “Or what a CPO is, or an IPB or LVC…You gotta know ticker names.”

Mr. Douglas, however, has no such concerns, “It will be really fun, and it’s the perfect time,” he told scribes, with a grin.
