Al Pacino to play Dr. Death
Alleged to have helped over 150 terminally ill people end their lives, the life and work of Dr. Jack Kevorkian is among the most polarizing cases in American history. And now one of the finest actors in that same history is bringing his life to the screen.
Al Pacino is now in closing talks to portray the reviled ‘Dr. Death’ in an HBO biopic of Kevorkian’s life, entitled, ‘You Don’t Know Jack.’ And Barry Levinson ['Rain Man,' 'Good Morning Vietnam'] is on board to direct.
The plot will center on Dr., Kevorkian’s ascent to international infamy, from his first foray into assisted suicides in 1956, through countless trials and acquittals in his home state of Michigan, to his eventual conviction by the same court in 1997, and his parole on health grounds eight-years later.
The movie has been on HBO’s wishlist for some time and Sir. Ben Kingsley was even in line to play Jack. Pacino, 69, is now locked in and ready, and filming is scheduled to start in the fall.
