Kevin Bacon robbed in New York

Published on May 26, 2009 at 12:17 PM

Despite seemingly every sentient life-form already having a cellphone, still over three-hundred were stolen last year, in New York alone. And now Kevin Bacon’s can go on that list.

The ubiquitous actor was waiting for a connection at the 53rd Street station on Thursday when someone helped themselves to his Blackberry, and took off into the crowd. Kevin chased them for several blocks, but the freeloader disappeared in the throng and took Kevin’s whole life along with them.

Direct numbers for his wife, ‘Closer’ star, Kyra Sedgwick, 43, and his agent are known to be on the device, but what other A-list names ma be in there is causing concern, as you might guess. His spokesman was giving no names.

NY-Subway officials say no-one was told of the crime, but Kevin, 50, insists he did call the cops. And this was not Kevin’s first run of bad luck — He and his wonderful wife lost an undisclosed sum in an ill-advised investment with now-disgraced Wall St. tycoon, Bernard Madoff.

Kevin’s currently on tour with his band, ‘The Bacon Brothers,’ and was not available for comment when called by reporters.

Most stolen phones are either re-sold, or the thief will use it themselves if they have the same service. Once they crack this one and see who’s inside, I smell a ransom. And I look forward reporting real soon on how brainless, unfettered greed got them caught. It’s been a rough year for Kevin and his wife who were among the many who fell victim to former Wall Street financier Bernie Madoff’s $50 billion Ponzi scheme.
