Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie drifting apart?

As we reported recently, Brad Pitt is said to have been calling the previous Mrs. Pitt, to seek solace over his choice to move on. Well, it looks like Brad might soon be free for a do-over…

Brad and his [current?] wife, Angelina are in Cannes at the moment to promote his new movie, the Tarantino-helmed war film, “Inglourious Basterds,” which debuted on Wednesday.

Last year, the couple were promoting Angie’s film and were constantly smooching, and Angie praised Brad and his work to the skies.

This year, Angie flew in at the very last moment, stayed – alone – at a place that is way out of town, and the two barely touched the whole time.

And interviewed for ‘Today’ from his hotel at Cannes, Brad didn’t mention her once.

Insiders have even pinned seven reasons why Brad and Jen’s double-billing could soon hit the skids:

1) They’re uber-successful, and thus always apart, 2) She wants more rugrats, but Brad’s got enough, 3) Angie’s brother lives with them….Brad’s not a fan; 4) Brad loves LA, but Jen hearts New York 5) He keeps talking to Jen!…’nuff said! 6) See #5 – And his folks prefer her! 7) Angie’s a brainiac, while hubby [allegedly] has the intellectual depth of a Muppet.

With two demanding careers, the pair have rarely shared the same room, and the tensions are starting to show, “Both are exhausted,” says a well-informed source. “Angie also has a temper, and she’s at her worst when she’s tired or stressed.” we are told. Even with all the stress, Angie’s said to be keen to revisit adoption – which is also causing some sparks, “Angelina wants more, but I don’t think Brad is keen.” says our friend.

Their current count of six — three natural and three adoptions — makes it necessary to have someone to watch them when Brad and Angie can’t be there. Angie co-opted her brother, James Haven, but Brad is not keen. Not even close. “Angelina depends on James and it drives Brad nuts.” says the source.

But despite all the rumors, the glamorous couple are clearly in sync on one thing – Their children come first. “They’re very committed parents and are really trying, because they can’t imagine life without the whole family together.” says the family friend.

Once Brad’s Cannes commitments are discharged, however, the two face even more time apart. Brad has movie roles all over the world, while Angie wants some quality-time with their brood. “Hopefully her down-time will do them both  good and they will get back the sparkle when they spend more time together.” is the friend’s supposition.

One thing this business sure doesn’t need is another messy divorce, with kids caught in the fire. I only hope for their sakes the friend is proved right.
