Kris Allen trumps Lambert in shock Idol win

Kris Allen - Idol WinnerAs you might just have heard, American Idol had their final last night. And true to its form, the result was a shock.

One-hundred million votes were cast, and the results put Arkansas native, Kris Allen, in the spotlight — a total reversal of the expected result. As you might guess, Kris, 23, was just stunned, “I don’t even know what to feel right now, this is crazy!”

Cast as the dark horse since the season’s debut, Kris’s gift even surprised hardened vets like Simon Cowell, “”I wasn’t sure whether America had made the right choice,” he told Chris early on. “But I absolutely take all that back.”

And so he should!

Not even out of college, Kris won hearts and minds with his own rearrangements of popular songs, but Adam Lambert’s dramatic persona and colorful style made many believe he had the win locked. They were wrong.

But Adam, 27, was diplomatic and gracious in the face of defeat, “For me it’s not about what happened tonight, it’s about tomorrow,” the flamboyant star told AP reporters.

Despite being ‘Idol’s least-watched finale in its seven-year history, Kris’s rendition of Kanye West’s “Heartless,” plus his collaboration last night with the remnants of Queen, proved he could be a real star. Past ‘Idol’ winners Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson went on to win Grammy’s, and Kris’s contract with ’19 Entertainment,’ [part-owned by the Beckhams,] plus his talent means he has all he needs to be next.

The big question is, do you want him?
