Sex and the City’s” Cynthia Nixon announced her engagement to longtime partner Christine Mariononi at a rally for gay marriage. Nixon had said little publicly about her long time partner until March of 2008 while on a promotional tour for the “Sex and the City” movie. According to attendees, the “Sex and The City” star told the crowd at the Love, Peace and Marriage Equality rally in New York City, that she became engaged last month.

Actors Kristen Davis, David Hyde Pierce, Audra McDonald and Ana Oritz also appeared at the event, which was to support New York Governor David Paterson’s proposed bill granting legal equality to same-sex unions.

Nixon separated from her boyfriend of 15 years, Danny Mozes, the father of her children Samantha, 11, and Charles, 6 in 2003. And soon began seeing Marinoni, a red-headed education activist (who looks a little like Ellen DeGeneres).
