Miss California’s Past Haunts – As Credibility Crumbles

Published on May 7, 2009 at 1:17 PM

Miss California is helplessly sinking, and Donald Trump’s got his foot on her head.

Already wounded by public reaction to her views on gay marriage and the lingerie photo that emerged last week, troubled beauty contestant, Carrie Prejean, is now facing new calls for the return of her crown after a new sexy photo (one of many promised) was published last night. And ‘The Donald’ is reportedly keen to oblige.

The 21-year old had assured pageant officials the first semi-topless photo was all she had done. The revelation of a new one is now placing her title at serious risk. “We have been told by Carrie there are no other photos. She should know better than anyone,” ‘Miss California USA’ Director Keith Lewis told reporters after Carrie’s first photo was released to the press.

Their reaction to the new one is, as yet, unknown. But it’s not looking good for Miss P.

Officials in charge of the California pageant have held meetings with lawyers and Donald Trump’s aides [he owns the whole show] to discuss the removal of Carrie’s state title. “When you compete for Miss California, you’re supposed to disclose whether you posed for such photos, as that’s grounds for disqualification,” Pageant director, Ron Neal, told CNN. And like all the contestants, Ms. Prejean signed off on a contract which confirmed her acceptance of this as a rule.

In a statement released through her new publicist, Ms. Prejean said the photos were “a vicious and mean-spirited” attempt to smear her her for “defending traditional marriage.” This curious example of intellectual gymnastics goes on to say that, “These attacks on me and others who defend traditional marriage are intolerant and offensive. While we may not agree on every issue, we should show respect for others’ opinions.”

The source of Carrie’s views is not hard to find; Back in 2000, Carrie’s own parents divorced, and both sides made allegations about the other’s true sexual tastes. “The mother questioned [within hearing of the girls] whether the father was a homosexual or had a homosexual roommate.” the court papers reveal. And such doubts, it would seem, were quite mutual.

Ms. Prejean can relax; All of her troubles may soon be resolved; Shanna Moakler, a co-director of the ‘Miss California’ team has already met with the runner-up for her title to discuss the next step if Prejean is dethroned.

But all is not, so far, bad news for Carrie; An organization called, ‘The National Organization for Marriage.’ has announced she will be the face of their new $1.5-million campaign to support and promote ‘conventional’ marriage. Whether she’ll still have the job if her crown is removed is a fact we have yet to discover.
