John Edwards’ lover demands DNA test

After two fervent but futile runs to be President, John Edwards’ career may be over for good.

Rielle Hunter, 44, who had a long-time affair with the Senator for North Carolina, is demanding that John provide DNA samples so she can prove to the world her 15-month old daughter is actually his. And her lawyers are in no mood to debate.

John is alleged to have promised Rielle they would be together one day, if she kept his secret. Out of love, she complied. But her patience is done. “Rielle was willing to protect John for the sake of the child, and even left the father’s name blank on the birth certificate. But now she sees there’s no future – and she feels lied to about not being trashed in the book,” a well-informed source has told the Enquirer.

While Mr. Edwards confessed to the affair in 2007, he has never admitted the baby is his. Federal authorities are even investigating whether he used his campaign funds to keep Rielle quiet. And Rielle is understandably eager to help. “She is so infuriated by John and Elizabeth’s actions, she’s throwing her loyalty out of the window!” says the source.

If John does the test, the results would be damming; The most popular test is so stunningly accurate, there’s only a 0.0001% chance of him not being the dad. It could spell the end of John’s whole career. Not to mention his marriage. If he finds the nerve, we’ll be there to report.
