Tyra Banks fights stalker in court
‘America’s Next Top Model’ guru, Tyra Bank has just taken the stand in an emotionally charged case against an obsessive fan who shows all the traits of a wannabe stalker.
The fan, Brady Green, sent love letters and flowers to Tyra, and is also on record as threatening to kill one of her staff if the worker didn’t give him free tickets to see Tyra’s show. He was later caught trying to sneak into the studio where Tyra’s chat show is taped, just before Tyra was due to appear.
Green, 39, has denied all the charges.
Tyra was first on the stand in Manhattan this morning, and told the court that Mr. Green’s behavior has forced her to hire extra security because she’s scared to be alone, and is afraid that more of her staff may be threatened or hurt if Green’s obsession is not brought under control. She described the defendant as “more aggressive than a regular fan, but I don’t fear for my life; I fear for my safety, and the people around me.”
Mr. Green’s lawyer, Sydney O’Hagens, tried to down-play Green’s eccentric behavior during the brief hearing, pointing out that he never called, emailed or actually threatened the 36-year old model. His client faces up to 90-days in a bleak county jail, however, if the Judge, James Burke, is not reassured.
The case is ongoing and we’ll keep you advised as updates arrive.
