Robert Rodriguez to resurrect Predator

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the jungle, Robert Rodriguez has other plans. The 41-year old writer, director and fiancée of Rose McGowan is now booked to resurrect the highly-lucrative ‘Predator’ franchise for Fox, and is also preparing to direct a new film based on a trailer for something that wasn’t a film…that was featured in one of his films…I think?
With his ‘Fox’ hat on, Rodriguez has written a script that will see the return of the angry alien with the crazy coiffure who went ten rounds with Arnold in 1987′s ‘Predator.’ The sequel three years later was a box-office dud, but 2004′s snooze-fest ‘Alien vs Predator’ made $62m in under three months, and that’s all the excuse tinsel-town needs to do it all over again.
Apart from some hot, sweaty fun in the jungle, Robert’s day-planner also includes some time to finally make a movie he already promoted in an R-rated trailer in ‘Grindhouse,’ his glorious tango with the great Tarantino, way back in 2007. Entitled, ‘Machete,’ the movie concerns an ex-Federale and talented swordsman who is brutally cheated by a crooked state senator, and uses his gift to ensure he gets justice, according to Variety’s scribes. No cast is decided, but like most of Rob’s movies it’s all set in Texas and they’re due to start shooting in June.
As if that weren’t enough to keep a boy busy, he’s also been writing a new action thrilled called, “Nerve Racker,’ and will be directing that next for the Weinstein boys, with a release in mid-2010.
Getting cozy with Rosie is going to be hard with a schedule like that, and the poor man will need all of his skills as a talented chef to soothe the sweet lady’s temper. I, for one, wish him luck.
