NBC unwisely recruits Blagojevich as reality TV star

Thank God imprisoned serial killers are mostly off limits to networks desperate for TV ratings. Sinking to a new low, NBC has made a deal with disgraced former governor of Illinois Rod Blagojevich, to star in the network’s forthcoming summer reality show “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here,” the network confirmed Tuesday.  NBC announced:”Rod Blagojevich will be a participant on the show pending the court’s approval.”

Blagojevich was impeached by the Illinois House of Representatives for corruption and misconduct in office and subsequently convicted and removed from office by the State Senate. He was indicted April 1 on federal corruption charges that included 11 counts of wire fraud, three of extortion, one of racketeering and one of lying to federal investigators.

In this version of the series copied from the U.K. hit, 10 celebrities of various backgrounds compete in challenges to raise money for their favorite charities.  Well one thing we know Blagojevich can do, is find ways to make money.

NBC has been looking for household names for this show that could make or break the network’s entire summer schedule. The peacock network will be airing the show starting June 1st, for four nights a week at 8 p.m. for nearly a month.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Blagojevich’s attorney told a federal judge Tuesday that he will file a request to loosen his client’s travel restrictions to participate in the show, which will be shot in Costa Rica. Personally I am hoping the judge puts a stop to this bad idea.
