Another drug arrest for Redmond O’Neal comes at bad time

Redmond O’Neal troubled son of Oscar-nominated actor Ryan O’Neal and ailing Farrah Fawcett has been arrested again over drug possession charges.

This time Redmond who just recently got out of rehab, was arrested on Sunday morning for possession of narcotics and for bringing narcotics into a jail facility, his third such arrest within the last year.

Redmond and a friend were driving to visit a locked-up friend at the Pitchess Detention Center South when they were stopped at a routine security checkpoint and he admitted to having the drugs, according to authorities.

He is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail and will appear in court on Wednesday.

Redmond is currently serving probation for a June 2008 DUI and drug possession charge and pleaded not guilty less than two weeks ago to a drug charge involving his father.

Both men were arrested Sept. 17 at the actor’s Malibu home following a probation sweep in which deputies found methamphetamines. A vial of the drug was found in Ryan’s bedroom, police said.

Ryan agreed to enter an 18-month drug deferment program, which if successfully completed and other requirements, the case against him will be dismissed.

The arrest comes amid news that Fawcett has been hospitalized since Thursday in her three-year battle with cancer.
