U.S. Postal Service To Release ‘Simpsons’ First-Class Stamps

FOX hit series The Simpsons have now fully left their ‘stamp’ on pop culture. They will be commemorated with First-Class Mail stamps in 2009 that will cost 44-cent as part of the first-class rate hike effective on May 11, 2009. The stamps have been personally designed by Simpsons creator and executive producer, Matt Groening, and feature the iconic Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson .
The Simpsons, winner of 24 Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award and a multitude of other accolades, is currently the longest-running primetime comedy in television history and is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The stamps can be pre-viewed on Thursday, April 9 at 8 a.m. ET on www.usps.com and at that time, the Postal Service will announce the date the stamps go on sale and how to pre-order. Of the 50,000 stamp suggestions made to the U.S. Postal Service each year, just 20 make it into production.
