Amy Winehouse Charged With Assaulting a Fan

Published on March 6, 2009 at 11:02 AM

Police are showing up at Amy Winehouse’s home again, just like old times. Winehouse just returned from a very long Caribbean vacation, healthier than she’s been in a long time and moved into a suburban home from Camden – but she faces more trouble on the horizon. The ever-troubled singer was charged today for allegedly assaulting a fan during an incident last year, at a ball in London’s Berkeley Square. Amy allegedly belted a woman who had the audacity to ask Amy for her picture. Her spokesman said on Friday:

“Amy voluntarily attended a police station in London yesterday morning,” her spokesman said in a statement.

“She was questioned by appointment in relation to an accusation made after the Berkeley Ball last year. She was charged with common assault and will attend a court hearing in the coming weeks.”

London police said that the hearing would take place at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on March 17.
