Writer/director Bill Condon,is actively shopping his script Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said? to the studio subsidiaries and independent distributors around town. Eddie Murphy is attached to star. Murphy, who has featured Pryor impersonations in his act as far back as the 1987 concert movie Raw, seems ideal for the role.

Condon, who just completed his debut run as producer of the 2009 Academy Awards, recently wrote and directed Dreamgirls.

Jim Carrey and Jake Gyllenhaal have been lined up to star in a big screen adaptation of the classic musicals Damn Yankees.
Power-producing team Craig Zadan and Neil Meron know a thing or two of adapting musicals to the big and small screen with the likes of Hairspray, A Raisin in the Sun, and the Oscar winning Chicago, on their resume.

Still it’s going to be challenging to inject a contemporary feel on a musical that is firmly rooted in the 1950s.
For now, they’ve got Carrey down as the devil to whom Gyllenhaal as Boyd/Joe Hardy sells his soul in exchange for a victory for his beloved baseball team.  Both will be making their musical debuts.
