Jamie Spears fights to protect Britney in court – and keep her on tight leash

As the Spears family fights to keep the persistent and desperate Sam Lutfi out of their daughter life you realize just how fragile Britney’s ‘recovery’ and comeback really is. They were all back in a Los Angeles court room yesterday, because daddy Jamie Spears wants the restraining order to be extended. Meanwhile Sam Lutfi says he’s no threat and wants the restraining order to end now.

The judge extended the restraining order until Wednesday to give Jamie time to testify and what he said on the stand is quite disturbing in regards to Britney’s current mental state. E! reports that Jamie testified a nanny overheard Britney talking to Adnan and Sam really early in the morning on a cell phone one day. When Britney went to dance practice, her security team found the phone which was a prepaid Nokia and she admitted it was passed to her at the Peninsula Hotel one day.

Jamie disclosed that Britney is allowed a cell phone, but can’t use it all the time. Daddy Spears added that when he found the illegal phone with Sam’s number on it, “he felt like a threat. It felt like someone was trying to extort my daughter.”

Prior to the conservatorship, when Britney was friends with Lutfi and Ghalib, she was not eating at all, wasn’t sleeping and was in a very bad emotional state, Jamie testified.

“It was pretty well a disaster. She had nothing going on at the time, mostly in the tabloids.”

Now, his daughter is “physically very wonderful, body and weight-wise,” Jamie said. “Very stable. Making her meetings. Taking care of her babies. Doing the things she is supposed to do.”

Under cross-examination, Jamie stated that none of the calls or texts were, in themselves,  threatening.

But, Jamie said, he believes that Lutfi “is a predator.”

The hearing will continue on Wednesday morning and a judge will determine then if the restraining order will get extended indefinitely.

First of all I am not so sure the Spears have much of a case against Lutfi.  Yeah he’s a desperate leach that wants to get his claws on Britney but she willingly took the phone and talked to him.  More importantly this whole situation demonstrates how Britney is still unstable and needs constant monitoring to keep her on track.  She may go on to make many more millions on her new tour and everyone will declare how Britney is back and better then ever but the dark secret may be she will need to be closely cared for the rest of her life or she will jump the tracks on her own devises.
