Chris Brown’s dad has spoken out about his son saying he is remorseful about the alleged incident involving his girlfriend Rihanna.

Chris Brown is under investigation for allegedly assaulting Rihanna, 20, early Sunday morning. He was arrested and charged with threatening her, but authorities have said more charges may follow as they continue their investigation.

Neither he nor his representatives have commented publicly on the alleged altercation that reportedly left the young woman battered and bruised, and led both Brown and Rihanna to skip Sunday’s Grammy Awards ceremony.

“He’s reflecting on this situation,” corrections officer Clinton Brown says of his 19-year-old son. “He’s very remorseful. He’s very concerned about the situation and he wants to make sure that (Rihanna’s) okay. This is unfortunate, this stumble, this situation. Hopefully, he will get past it. We all have our shortcomings. We all trip,” he told People magazine.

The elder Brown said there are “two sides to every story.”

“Just because someone trips, if you are truly a fan, you are not going to demonize him instantaneously,” Clinton Brown said.

He described his son as a “lovable young man” and “a good person,” and said he hopes his son will learn and grow in light of this recent experience.

“As a father, I couldn’t be more proud,” Clinton Brown said. “He’s the light of my life.”
