Jennifer Aniston says divorce from Brad Pitt made her ‘superhuman’
Jennifer Aniston has been making the media rounds in support of her new movie ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’. The former Friends star who turns 40 this week, has been opening up more lately about her love life and divorce with Brad Pitt whom she thought she would be with for the rest of her life after marrying in 2000.
But they broke up five years later and he went on to set up home with Angelina Jolie.
“My split with Brad was the hardest thing I ever went through.
“But it made me strong, superhuman.
“Now I’m turning 40 and I’m very excited. When they say youth is wasted on the young, it’s so true.”
Aniston then dated a series of men.
“Over the years I’ve gone for each type of man,” she said.
“The rough guy, the nerdy, sweet, lovable type, the slick guy. Men in general are a good thing, I think—as long as they’re not crazy!”
But it was funnyman actor Vince Vaughn who helped Jennifer get over her divorce. They fell in love on the set of The Break-Up and were together for a year.
“I call Vince my defibrillator,” she said. “He literally brought me back to life. My first gasp of air was a big laugh. It was great. I love him. He’s a bull in a china shop. He was lovely and fun and perfect for the time we had together. I needed that. And it sort of ran its course.”
Aniston also recently revealed that she an unusual way of saving keepsakes of her former loves. She saves voicemails from her ex partners, likening the habit to keeping love letters.
“I still have the cassette tapes of messages from my first boyfriend, my second boyfriend, my husband,” she told Marie Claire.
“It’s like saving love letters,” she added.
Now years later, it seems Jennifer is finally lucky in love again, although she has her own take on that, too. Now she is with John Mayer, who it is rumored may use her birthday (Jen turns 40 on Wednesday) to propose.
She said that she “adores” Mayer, who is nine years her junior and she met as a Hollywood party.
Aniston also spoke about her hopes of being a mother.
“Do I want to have children? I do, and I will,” she told the News of the World.
“The women who inspire me are the ones who have families and children.
“Why would I want to limit myself? I want to have it all.”
On Saturday Jen threw herself a pre-40th birthday party at her Beverly Hills mansion, where guests reportedly included former Friends co-star Courtney Cox, rock star Sheryl Crow and of course John Mayer.
