New Reality Series To Use Arranged Marriages As A Hook

Published on February 3, 2009 at 1:40 PM

If you thought the reality show craze was beginning to slow down, you were horribly mistaken. A new show by CBS will allow friends and family of contestants to arrange marriages, which will be performed, and monitored, on their network.

The show, which is being produced by the creators of ‘Project Runway’, will offer four singles the chance to marry a spouse of their family and friend’s choosing, and will watch their marriage from the initial vows, to the end. Or not.

The idea isn’t a new one, with ‘marriage’ shows already a hot past commodity on the reality market, but CBS promises that their loosely titled ‘Arranged Marriage’ will be something special. This is mainly due to the fact that they don’t stop at a chosen engagement, which can be conveniently broken off once the checks roll in. They will actually exchange vows in a valid ceremony, and be legally wed.

No release date has been set yet.
