John Mayer planning on proposing to Jennifer Aniston for Oscar surprise?

The status of Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer’s on-and-off romance is a bit confusing right now.  Aniston and Mayer parted ways at the end of last summer, but rekindled their love affair in October (08), Recently there have been reports that Mayer had split from Jennifer Aniston after a tense New Year in Mexico, and that the singer was allegedly spotted kissing another woman. That however doesn’t seem to be the case as John was spotted over at Jen’s West Hollywood home on Monday night by X17Online.

Lately Mayer has been updating his Twitter several times, telling his readers that he was “visiting the Diamond Exchange in Tustin,” and “welding an engagement ring for [his] girlfriend.”

The magazine that comes up with the most creative stories on Jen and John, Star Magazine reported earlier this week, that Aniston will be presenting at the Academy Awards on Feb. 22 and she plans to bring her beau. According to the tabloid, John plans to propose on Feb. 11 — Jen’s 40th birthday. Then when Jen presents on Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s big night as Oscar nominees — she will be flashing/debuting her engagement ring, finally stealing Brangelina’s thunder.
