Report: ‘Patrick Swayze Gives Up Medical Treatment For Cancer’

According to a report by the National Enquirer, Patrick Swayze has given up all medical treatment for his pancreatic cancer, after being told by doctors that there is nothing more then they can do. While we always consider the source, it should also be kept in mind that they were the first to break the story of Swayze’s cancer last year, and so some credence should be given.
Especially when you consider the fact that many only survive pancreatic cancer for less than six months.
An anonymous friend of the family sat down with the Enquirer this week, with a few details about this tragic news.
“There’s nothing more doctors can do for him. We are down to the wire and the goal now is to keep Patrick comfortable. His condition is inoperable and they have stopped the chemo. He’s still losing weight and he’s very weak.”
Those who have seen recent images of the Ghost star might not be totally surprised by this news, as he has continued to appear more and more frail in his battle against cancer. However, he has not given up his determination.
“There’s more I want to do. Lots more. I want to last until they find a cure,” he told Barbara Walters in a recent interview.
His courage is admirable, and though reports suggest he was the one to give up on his treatment, several doctors have said that they don’t blame him for his decision.
“When you are as determined an individual as Swayze, you want to have some control over how you spend your last days,” Dr Judy Kuriansky, explained.
“I am sure he will summon every last vestige of strength to fulfill his desire.” Recently as we reported Patrick and his wife have started work on a memoir on top of his TV work.
This is also after hospitalization for pneumonia earlier this month.
A pal said, “His confidence had always been contagious for Lisa — but the situation is really staring them in the face now.”
In any case Swayze is making the most of his time here on earth while he can. He’s already taken on being the star of a new TV series ‘The Beast’ and admitted he couldn’t take pain killers while shooting the show to maintain a clear head he needs to give his best performance. The actor-dancer-singer Patrick Swayze will also soon be able to add “author” to his list of credentials now. He’s also reportedly started working on a book co-written with his wife, Lisa. No word yet on what the book will focus on or when it will hit bookstands, but it’s rumored to be an inspirational-type tome.
Update: Swayze’s representative Annett Wolf has responded to this rumor saying: “The reports are not true.
I really do wish Patrick Swayze the best and I pray for some sort of miracle for a remission or recovery. He is one of my favorite actors hope things start looking up for him.
