Sienna Miller Set To Make Steamy Broadway Debut
Sienna Miller is set to make her Broadway debut pretty much playing herself as a ‘sexually provocative’ landowner’s daughter in an adaptation of August Strindberg’s Miss Julie. Married women in New York are advised to keep their husbands on a short leash, although the siren is still not through with current married boyfriend Balthazar Getty, just yet.
It’s a great coup for the 27-year-old New York City-born, U.K.-raised actress who recently was let go before filming of the movie Nottingham could start. Sienna waited months to do Nottingham, but the script the actress agreed to do last year changed considerably. Her part got smaller and it was felt a slightly older and perhaps larger stature actress would make a better fit opposite the now portly Russell Crowe. Cate Blanchett has reportedly been offered the role, although she hasn’t yet agreed to do it.
Anyway, Sienna will star as the lead character in After Miss Julie, playwright Patrick Marber’s adaptation of August Strindberg’s Miss Julie, which was first seen at the Donmar Warehouse in London five years ago. The play has just three characters. Sienna has been eager to return to the stage following her London debut in the Young Vic’s West End production of As You Like It. A plan to play Juliet in Romeo And Juliet in Central Park two years ago didn’t work out.
