Bear Grylls and his wife add baby ‘Huckleberry’ to their den

‘Man vs. Wild’ Discovery Channel star Bear Grylls and his wife Shara have welcomed a new cub to their den — a baby boy born Thursday.

The couple’s third child, Huckleberry Edward Jocelyne Grylls, weighed in at 7 lbs., 7 oz. I guess they can call him Huckle-Bear after dad. Shara and the baby were said to both be doing great.

The 34-year-old Grylls is a bit of a maniac if you have ever caught him on his show or doing daredevil acts to break world records. He has hosted “Man vs. Wild,” on which he strands himself in remote locations to demonstrate survival techniques, since November 2006. The former British Special Forces member who recently published “Man vs. Wild: Survival Techniques for the Most Dangerous Places on Earth,” was injured during an expedition in Antarctica recently. He was not filming for Discovery, but instead was taking part in an independent expedition when the accident occurred. Grylls was reportedly injured during the making of his latest daredevil documentary, a bid to scale an unnamed mountain after traveling across the Antarctic on jet-skis, a wind-powered kite-ski and an electric-powered para-glider.

Grylls damaged his shoulder in a life-threatening fall and was said to be in great pain from a serious fracture, which left the bone protruding from his body. This happened in early December and I never did see an update on his injury.
