Zooey Deschanel has gotten engaged to musician Ben Gibbard

Actress and musician Zooey Deschanel has gotten engaged to Ben Gibbard, the frontman for Death Cab for Cutie. The 32-year-old Gibbard popped the question to Deschanel the weekend before Christmas. No date has yet been set, but it’ll be the first trip down the aisle for the low-profile couple.

The 28-year-old Zooey is currently starring in Yes Man opposite Jim Carrey, but like her fiance she is quite the musician. Since 2001, Deschanel has performed in the jazz cabaret act If All the Stars Were Pretty Babies with fellow actress Samantha Shelton. Zooey plays the piano, percussion, xylophone. She released her first album, Volume One, in March with her band She & Him, which has evoked strong positive reactions from critics.
