What did you think of ‘Survivor: Gabon’ final?

Anyone catch the ‘Survivor’ final last night? The latest edition of the strategy-endurance game was set in the West African nation of Gabon.  As you know now (and stop if you don’t want to know the winner), Schoolteacher Bob Crowley beat runners-up Susie Smith, the gabby 47-year-old hairdresser-homemaker from Charles City, Iowa, and 29-year-old Jessica “Sugar” Kiper, the blond cutie from Brooklyn, to emerge as the sole “Survivor.” Overall the last few weeks had a lot of interesting drama because some of the votes were filled with intrigue and last second twists that left you guessing who would get eliminated. Many of the best twists were instigated by “Sugar” who carried an immunity idol she found early on and always seemed to be behind a last minute swing vote that lead to someone’s demise. Why Sugar got rid of strong allies Ace and Matty at different points in the show was bizarre but her trickery using a fake immunity idol with Bob’s help to get rid of cranky Randy Bailey was classic.

Unfortunately for her, when placed before a jury of her supposed peers who were more like sworn enemies, and still bitter over their exits they were quick for revenge.  It was actually Susie who played hard but really wasn’t a strong player who was voted into second. Meanwhile Crowley will take his $1 million prize home to Portland, Maine. The 57-year-old player’s victory was well deserved, he was amazing at eliminations and mostly cruised through with an endearing personality that kept everyone liking him.  There are always players to like and dislike on the show, that’s most of the fun.  Besides Bob, I think Matty acquitted himself well.  Two of my least favorites this season were Corrine and Randy.
