A look at Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter?

Here is a first look at what appears to be Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, in Tim Burton’s adaption (written by Linda Woolverton) of ‘Alice in Wonderland’. Depp who recently played as Benjamin Barker, aka Sweeney Todd and Captain Jack, must be spending hours in the make-up room again. Based on previous projects one shouldn’t be surprised to see Burton and Depp create a very bizarre twist to the classic story penned  by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, better known under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. The film will combine performance-capture imagery, currently seen in Beowulf, with live-action footage. Depp’s co-stars include Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Michael Sheen, Mia Wasikowska, Matt Lucas, Crispin Glover, Stephen Fry and Alan Rickman. Expect ‘Alice’ in theaters on March 5, 2010.
