Britney Spears takes the stage with Madonna in Los Angeles

As advertised Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake joined Madonna onstage last night in Los Angeles, albeit not at the same time. Fans didn’t have to wait long once the show started as, Spears, clad in black pants, a white tuxedo-style shirt and black heels, shared the spotlight with Madonna on the second song of the night, which, incidentally came pretty late in the evening because the show started nearly three hours late. As Madge began “Human Nature,” still images of Spears began splashing on 20-foot screens behind the stage. Then Britney suddenly appeared from the crowd in the middle part of the stage’s runway as the packed crowd at Dodger Stadium erupted. Madge closed to within 2 feet of Britney and emphasized the song’s lyrics – “I’m not sorry … I’m not your bitch” Britney was lowered beneath the stage at the end of the number as portions of the crowd cried out her name. It was a tame stage collaboration compared to the last time Madonna performed with Spears back in 2003 when they kissed during a wedding themed routine at the MTV Video Music Awards. Meanwhile, Britney was gone from the stage long before Timberlake appeared to duet with Madge on their Hard Candy tune “4 Minutes.” There were plenty of celebrities in the audience including Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, Carrie Underwood, Dennis Quaid, Hayden Panettiere, Fergie, Kate Moss and Amanda Bynes.

It was a good day all around for Ms. Spears. She was awarded two MTV Europe Music Awards — one for Album of the Year for “Blackout” and the other for Act of 2008!!!
