Holly Madison says ‘high maintenance’ Hugh Hefner should have seen breakup coming
Holly Madison sat down with “Extra’s” special correspondent Alison Waite to talk about her sudden breakup from Hugh Hefner. Madison insists the Playboy mogul, whom she dated for seven years, should not have been upset over their split – because it was clear she was unhappy. She admits she called off the romance when it became clear they didn’t have a future together. Madison told Waite:
“I’m just kind of sad about my break-up with Hef. I wish he would’ve seen it coming.
“Everybody was surprised when it happened because even though I was unhappy for a long time, the split happened suddenly. The signs were there. I was depressed for a while. I want to be with somebody I can have more of a future with eventually. Hef and I can’t get married and have kids so it was fun while it lasted but it wasn’t right for my old age. I got too old for Hef.”
But Madison hasn’t moved out of the Playboy Mansion yet. She tells Extra, “I’ve been staying in the guest room. Hef was kind enough not to kick me out of the house (and) my condo should be finished soon. “I still work for him (Hefner). We’re still best friends. I still call and check in on him almost everyday.”
Asked about Hefners’s new girlfriends, Karissa and Kristina Shannon, Madison declared, “He does not waste any time but I’m happy for him. I want him to be busy and happy and having fun.”
Madison admitted, “It might be refreshing to date someone who is not high maintenance. Sorry, Hef, you know you’re high maintenance. I love you but you know you’re high maintenance.”
Over the weekend, Waite also caught up with Madison who was hand in hand with rumored new love, Criss Angel, at his new critically panned Cirque Du Soleil show, Believe, in Las Vegas. So, are Madison and Angel officially a couple? Angel exclaimed, “You want the exclusive? We’re good friends and we love spending time with each other.” Waite responded, “I hope you can get some benefits as far as being friends” Angel said, “Friends with benefits. Yeah!”
