Traci Lords comes full circle in “Zack and Miri Make a Porno”

Traci Lords was the hottest porn actress in the 1980s (I am told). Then, just as she was at the height of her career, It was revealed Traci, who had already done a Penthouse spread was under 18 when she did most of her films (she was 15 years old in her first x-rated movie). The fallout lead to regulations on porn, and the industry was changed forever. Now, 20 years later, in the midst of a successful movie and singing career, Traci Lords appears in “Zack and Miri Make a Porno,” an R-Rated movie with an X-Rated title.

Traci at first didn’t want to do it. But after finding out Seth Rogan was in it and Kevin Smith was the Writer/director, she read the script and change her mind.  She tells that:

“I thought it’s kind of perfect that my life has come full circle in that way, that two decades ago I was a teenage porn star and now I’m a mom and I’m doing this. And wouldn’t it be fabulous to have good hair and makeup? Can I trade in my sweats and my shirt with throwup on it for a second? I want to be glamorous.”

Traci who plays a porn actress called Bubbles in the outrageous film, shot the movie only two and a half months after giving birth to her son. It admittedly made her nervous about some of the movie’s revealing scenes.  She says:

“There was a scene where my character Bubbles was topless and I remember saying to Kevin, ‘Listen, I understand why she’s topless, but I’m lactating and if you want me, my boobs are off limits right now.’ “I haven’t done nudity since 1987, so I don’t think I would have done it anyway… I really want people to focus on something besides my breasts. I think we’ve seen enough of those. Plus I want them to be remembered in their heyday.”
