Jermaine Jackson tells Australian Press – 2009 Jackson 5 tour is on!

Hard to believe but, Jermaine Jackson reportedly told the Australian Associated Press yesterday that the Jackson 5 will be reuniting and are already in the studio rehearsing. Jackson is in Australia to help launch a new “greatest hits” TV channel and confirmed the rumors at the event.

He says the brothers, yes including Michael, are going to go on a world tour next year and that Janet will be their opening act. How appropriate!

Jermaine told the press, “This has been a long time coming for the Jackson family to get back together. It is just the timing, so what we’ve been doing is working on the music and all the logistics. It is going to be more like a family affair. Janet’s going to open and, of course, the original Jackson 5…Michael, Randy and the whole family. We’re in the studio, we’re planning on being out there next year.”

It sounds really nice but until Michael who has always been the one to keep this from happening in the past, goes on record saying the tour is on, it’s just a rumor as far as I am concerned.

Update: Not surprisingly Michael Jackson is insisting there are no plans to reunite the Jackson 5 or any other family group. In a statement, Jackson says in reaction to Jermaine’s declaration, “My brothers and sisters have my full love and support, and we’ve certainly shared many great experiences, but, at this time, I have no plans to record or tour with them. I am now in the studio developing new and exciting projects that I look forward to sharing with my fans in concert soon.”
