Lindsay Lohan’s dad promises to shut up!

Celebrity parents should take heed. Michael Lohan says he’s going to stop using the media to communicate with his daughter Lindsay.

Perhaps now realizing how much he has alienated his daughter from him, Lohan now tells the press at a book party (whom he vows not to speak to anymore): “In the past, I felt that the best way to get to her was to speak out publicly, and it was the wrong choice.”

Among the many many public statements Lohan says he regrets are those regarding Lindsay’s girlfriend, Sam Ronson. In September, Michael Lohan called Ronson a “dark, hideous and a disgusting representation of humanity,” which prompted Lindsay to hit back writing an e-mail to the New York Post, claiming her dad “needs to be on medication” – and sources were speculating she might even seek legal protection against him.
Michael now claims, he and Lindsay talk these days, and he was just back from a four-day visit with his noncelebrity son, Michael.

And since it was hard to look past the irony of publicly stating that you’re no longer making public statements about the family, the entire story begged for a clarification from Michael; but it appears he’s sticking to his guns for now — he didn’t respond to a comment request by press time.
