Britney Spears now under “permanent” but not forever conservatorship
This was really kind of a surprises to me at first but it makes some sense now. Britney Spears has apparently accepted the conservatorship that she fought so hard when she wasn’t so well. Lawyers have requested to make her conservatorship permanent and the judge said she would grant the request, according to TMZ. The conservatorship was otherwise scheduled to end on December 31.
Apparently though permenant is a legal term and does not mean forever in this context. Supposedly the commissioner doesn’t want to keep extending temporary power, so it made more sense to make the conservatorship permanent and then just lift it when Britney is ready to resume control of her life completely. In the meantime Britney can focus on her comeback, while her dad and the other conservators will take responsibility for handling her business affairs and career opportunities. And the side benefit is that extending the conservatorship should makes it easier for her to regain custody of her kids — the family law commissioner will feel more comfortable giving her added face time if there is a safety net.
While we’re on the topic of Britney, there was a rumor today that she’s planning to host “Saturday Night Live for a third time. With Saturday, November 22 as the big night. However, NBC says the story is “totally untrue.”
