Jessica Biel’s Marie Claire Interview on fame and motherhood
Posted on October 25th, 2008 by Hot Momma
Jessica Biel is on the promotion circuit for her new movie “Easy Virtue,” which comes out next month. Jessica stars alongside Colin Firth, Ben Barnes and Kristin Scott Thomas in the movie based on a Noel Coward play, which opens November 7. The movie finds Jessica playing Larita Huntington, an American woman who marries a British man, John Whittaker (Ben). After bringing her home to meet the parents, the couple’s relationship comes under intense scrutiny from John’s mother, Veronica (Kristin). In a new interview with Britain’s Marie Claire for the magazine’s December issue, the “Seventh Heaven” actress finds the role parallels her own life as her relationship as girlfriend of pop star Justin Timberlake is always under scrutiny. Biel tells the mag:
“It’s hard. It’s the hardest part of this whole wonderful, bizarre lifestyle and profession. You have to be Zen about it, because it can make you crazy. There are times when I’ve been followed by men with giant cameras in giant SUVs all day long. It scares the crap out of me and I literally come home and emotionally erupt and cry it out and sit on the floor and think, ‘Do I really want this?’
Ignoring her self pity party (sorry had to say it) the mag also asks the 26-year-old Biel whether motherhood is beckoning?
“I kind of go back and forth about marriage and kids. I feel like, if it’s an organic way for me and the right time in my life, then, yeah. If it’s right, it’ll be right — but, at this moment, that seems completely foreign. I tell you, I have so many friends having babies and getting married, and they just want to put me where they are so we can go to nursery together and stuff,” Jessica admitted. “I’m like, ‘Noooooo!’ I’m resisting.”
Here are a few other excerpts from the interview.
On her reputation as one of the most fit celebrities in Hollywood:
“It’s so hard for months on end to maintain a strict diet and exercise program.”
On turning to plastic surgery someday:
“I am really afraid of blades on my face. That freaks me out beyond belief. I would way rather have wrinkles than have some slice-up going on.”
Jessica on becoming a movie star:
“I never thought to myself, ‘I’m going to do this musical, then I’m going to be a movie star.’ I never made that jump. For a very long time I wasn’t thought of as anyone with any credibility in the film world. Everyone is tramping through the swamp everyday in this business.”
On working in TV:
“I was really up tight, when you work on television for a long time you’re in a really organised situation; in film, it’s so much more improvisational and relaxed.” Jessica on being in the film The Illusionist: “I was so thrilled to get that part, it was such a joy for me, oh it was great.”

By the way Jessica was at the NightBird recording studios recently at the Sunset Marquis Hotel, where she recorded tracks for music producer Marius De Vries. She was recording vocals for the Easy Virtue soundtrack. And apparently Biel is not just another wannabe actress turned pop star. Studio sources said:
“She can hold her own as far as singing goes. She absolutely killed it.”
