Johnny Depp wants part in Little Britain movieJohnny Depp has supposedly begged fellow actor Matt Lucas for a role in the Little Britain movieĀ  after loving the debut of the American series. A quick background first. The first episode of Little Britain USA on BBC1 pulled in five million viewers. Little Britain USA is an American spinoff of the successful British BBC television series Little Britain. As in the British series, the show will mainly focus on characters played by Matt Lucas and David Walliams and features many established characters such as Daffyd Thomas, Sebastian Love, Marjorie Dawes and Vicky Pollard but will also include new ones; According to the makers, Little Britain USA “…is effectively series four…” of the BBC instalment. The new series was first shown on HBO and in Canada on The Movie Network on September 28 2008, at 10.30pm EST, then was shown on BBC One on October 3 2008 in the UK.

So Little Britain star Lucas and Depp are now filming Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland in Los Angeles and have struck up a friendship. Lucas is playing Tweedledum and Tweedledee opposite Depp’s Mad Hatter - said of plans for a Little Britain film: “We thought it would be interesting to make a movie where we play lots of characters.”

A movie insider said: “Johnny was laying it on thick saying how much he enjoyed the first episode of the series. He said he would do anything to have a part in the movie.”

Depp is a fan of UK comedy and has already made a cameo appearance in The Fast Show.
