English actor Hugh Laurie, star of star of the biggest drama on television ‘House,’ was recently the victim of a home burglary it’s been reported. Ironically Hugh recently moved his family to the US to join him after signing a huge new contract following the success of the TV drama. The actor, 49, who’s played Dr Gregory House since 2004, has been jetting to and from Los Angeles to London to see his wife of 19-years Jo and their three teenage kids fearing his show was doomed to fail.
Laurie and his wife were at home and asleep in bed when robbers broke into his new 4 million dollar Hollywood Hills home. Laurie is understandably unnerved, but they were fortunate that they were lucky enough to have slept through the robbery unharmed. Not a great impression of living in the US for Laurie’s wife though!
A spokesman for Laurie has confirmed the incident, saying: “Hugh was the victim of a burglary at his home. The matter is under investigation by police and I cannot say any more.”
Police believe the burglary was perpetrated by the same crew who’ve broken into the neighboring homes of country singers Faith Hill and Tim MCGraw, and movie studio boss Sherry Lansing.
Laurie lost his laptop in the burglary. However like most robbery victims, it’s the violation and not the loss of possessions thats the big deal in a situation like this, especially for one of TV’s highest paid actors. Laurie recently scored a $400,000-per-episode pay rise.
