Paul McCartney plays historic Israel concert to 40,000 (Video)More than 40,000 music fans turned out to Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park, to celebrate Paul MCCartney’s first show in Israel on Thursday night. The former Beatle greeted the audience in Hebrew with “Shalom, Tel Aviv!” before performing at a peace concert in Tel Aviv - 43 years after the Fab Four were banned from the country. The Friendship First concert featured 31 hits from McCartney’s music career, including Beatles songs (Hello Goodbye, Eleanor Rigby and Back in the USSR), Wings hits and solo tunes.
MCCartney who is 66, also performed late Beatles bandmate John Lennon’s Give Peace A Chance.
He finished the set with Fab Four favourites Yesterday and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Muslim extremists had threatened Paul, for choosing to perform in Tel Aviv — but he insisted: “My message is a peaceful one.” While police were on high alert around the venue the only explosions came from an impressive firework display as Sir Paul and his mainly American band pounded out Live and Let Die. His choice of Let It Be to close the show was a poignant one given the circumstances surrounding his performance.

More than 40,000 in the Tel Aviv’s Yarkon Park. I wonder if anyone will sneak their video camera in for some Youtube moments? That’s the latest thing!
