Movie News: Famke Janssen hauntingly beautiful; David-Hasselhoff a Beverly Hills dancing Ninja?

Perhaps this will end the streak of Japanese-inspired American horror films that don’t translate well? A very promising one is on its way next month, starring Famke Janssen, in the ghost film, 100 Feet, which makes its U.S. debut at the Austin Film Festival next month. The reason many Japanese-horror remakes don’t work according to 100 Feet director Eric Red, is because they replace creepy, homemade visual and sound effects with CG. (That’s what happened in the U.S. remake of The Ring.) But in 100 Feet, which is inspired by Japanese horror, the main monster is played by a real actor, and the effects are done with minimal computer interference, making for a very believable—and much more Japanese-y— experience.
Makes sense and having Famke Janssen in the lead role should make for good watching too.

Continuing the Hollywood trend of remaking bad movies, a ‘Beverly Hills Ninja’ sequel is on it’s way. Beverly Hills Ninja is said to be less of a sequel than some sort of bizarre reboot. This new spin tells the the tale about a white kid who grows up with an Asian family, and convinces himself he’s the legendary dancing ninja… whatever the heck that is. When his Sensei is murdered, he follows in Chris Farley’s large footsteps and heads to Hollywood to track down the killer. David Hasselhoff and High School Musical co-star Lucas Grabeel are set to star. We’re guessing Lucas will be the dancing ninja, and perhaps the Hoff, will be the Sensei or play the heavy. The movie will start shooting in South Korea as soon as next month. It’s a big deal, because it’s the first mainstream movie to shoot there, and because it stars David Hasselhoff.

Famke Janssen is incredible looking woman! I wonder if she know???
