Alex and Cynthia Rodriguez reach divorce settlement

The ugly divorce battle that painted Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez as a serial adulterer has quietly ended. A-Rod and his estranged wife Cynthia have settled their divorce, says the New York Daily News. The settlement brings an end to the ex-couple’s five year marriage, as well as their months-long public fallout which saw various reports link the Yankees all-star to Madonna.

A terse statement released by the superstar ball player’s lawyer, Alan Kluger said:

“Cynthia and Alex Rodriguez have amicably resolved their dissolution of marriage proceedings. They deliberately engaged in a private negotiation. This was and remains a personal family matter for both of them.”

Take that as no details of the settlement were revealed. What we do know is, A-Rod was posturing that he was only willing to give Cynthia what was required in their prenup and threatened to make her pay his legal fees if she challenged the agreement and lost. Meanwhile in her divorce petition, Cynthia Rodriguez, 35, demanded the couple’s $12 million waterfront estate in Coral Gables, Fla., and “equitable distribution” of all assets acquired during the marriage. She also asked for alimony and child support from A-Rod, who made $28 million this season. She asked for life and health insurance and enough to pay for private schools so she and their two daughters can maintain the “high standard of living” they’re used to.
