Elle Macpherson voted greatest model of all time
Australian Supermodel Elle Macpherson, 44, topped the poll of 3,000 women carried out by British high street store Debenhams.
Elle who is 6 feet tall and nicknamed ‘The Body’, graced the covers of all the major fashion magazines including six cover appearances on Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue. She is also a very successful as a business woman with her own fragrance and lingerie line and according to Forbes, she is worth around $120 million.
Cindy Crawford, 42, who became the first modern supermodel to pose nude for Playboy magazine was voted second, followed in third by iconic 58-year-old British star, Twiggy – who shot to fame in the ’60s and was one of the original supermodels.
Twiggy was kind of the exception to the supermodel popularity contest. A Debenhams’ spokeswoman said:
“Women prefer curvier figures. They go for girls like Elle and Cindy. Most of the original supermodels feature in the top 10 which illustrates just how iconic their figures are.”
Others in the top ten (heavily weighed with British models) include Kate Moss at number seven and Liz Hurley who came in at ninth place.
