Britney Spears wins 3 moon men at VMA’s

One year after awkwardly lip-syncing her way through the opening of the MTV VMAs, Britney Spears returned to kick off the 2008 affair. She didn’t perform a song, and did little more than read a cue card at a mile a minute, and quickly got off the stage. But Spears won in all three categories in which she was nominated — for Female Video, Pop Video and Video of the year — which would have been impressive at any other awards. I’m not saying the awards were rigged, but Britney’s triumph felt almost scheduled. Britney’s been good for MTV and no doubt she will be again if her career takes off again.  And MTV made sure to get her relaunch started on the right foot.
