Britney Spears will appear but won’t perform at VMA’s

There were rumors that Britney Spears was going to perform at the MTV VMAs this Sunday, most famously by hairdresser Kim Vo. Then there were rumors that she wasn’t (by her manager). Perhaps both rumors were somewhat correct as Britney will not perform but she will open the VMA Awards Sunday night in Hollywood.

Brit issued a statement to ETOnline say: “MTV has long played an important role in my career. How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMAs? I’m excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated.”

Spears is nominated in three categories, including Video of the Year for “Piece of Me.” It would be somewhat of a shock if she doesn’t walk away with some hardware.
