MTV remake of Rocky Horror Picture Show to star Russell Brand

In this age of remaking every movie that was remotely successful in the past, it comes as no surprise, (but with disappointment) that the cult musical “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” is set to be redone. MTV studio bosses were eager to replicate the success of the 1975 movie, which starred Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Meat Loaf. Will give MTV some credit for working on something that actually involves playing music for once.
Casting hasn’t been announced yet, but sources claim Russell Brand has been asked to fill Tim Curry’s garter belt as transvestite scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter. I think it’s a big mistake to try to remake this classic but Russell Brand is a good casting choice. Russell has had some recent success in the US with his role in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” and will play host on MTV’s Video Awards.
